Introduction to Bamboo Stick Chemical Treatment: Purpose and Boiling Process

Steaming also called Stick Boiling is a essential pretreatment that fundamentally improves bamboo’s workability and final product quality through the following mechanisms:

Ensure Product Stability	Removes soluble sugars and starches.	Prevents future deformation, cracking, and microbial attack.
Extend Service Life	The combined effect of fiber modification and starch reduction.	Guarantees long-term dimensional stability and aesthetic integrity.

Chemical Treatment of the Bamboo Stick

Selection of Chemical:We kindly suggest you to choose the H2O2 with the concentration of 35%. THE STAINLESS STEEL TANK SIZE IS 2200MM(LENGTH)* 800MM (WIDTH)*700MM (HEIGHT).

The First Time of Boiling:Firstly, you should boil the water into 70 degree centigrade and put the fresh bamboo stick inside. (Please kindly note that the water should cover all sticks)And then, pour the H2O2 (concentration 35%), 15 KGS into it.   THE WATER SHALL COVER THE BAMBOO STICK. It is hard to say how many H2O2 and how many water. After the stick is putting inside, you shall ensure the water is just covering the stick. The boiling time is 50 to 60 minutes. (According to the bamboo stick characteristics, you can work out the best boiling time. If the boiling time too long or too short, it will influence the whiteness)

The Second Time of Boiling:On the previous basis, you should add 13 KGS H2O2 with concentration (35%) and boil them for 50 to 60 minutes. The Third & Fourth Time of Boiling is same as the methods. After you repeated for 4 or 5 times, you should do the same as starting from the first time. (BUT the water should be changed into clean water (new water) Before you pouring new water into the tank, you should clean the inside of tank, and leak the sewage.

You should not keep the sticks in the boiling tank over night or using the overnight water. During the boiling, you can only pouring H2O2 and do not add other chemicals. Because using single type of chemicals, the preservation time is longer.
